I bought this little guy to do roundovers on some porch columns and railing I'm building and so far it's exceeding expectations. I've only ever used full-sized older craftsman routers, so having a tool you can operate one-hand is a new experience. I was expecting a lack of power, but it's handled a 5/16 ogee in treated pine in one pass. The 1-1/4 chamfer bit I've got took 3 passes to not bog the motor down, but that's a pretty heavy bit for this little router.

I bought this router two years ago. I rarely write reviews on Amazon, but felt this one was due. I have been am amateur woodworker since the mid-70s, and since retirement, a professional toy-maker. When I look around my shop I see no tool more useful than this router. My first two routers were full-size routers and I was never happy with the control and results. This router is powerful and versatile while being so easily handled. I use it for toymaking, furniture and frames. The quality of the tool is consistent with my other Bosch tools.

We bought 6 of these for shop routers to replace all of our Porter Cable routers. Their primary purpose is laminate routing and light corian edging for a commercial manufacturing shop, notorious for guys being rough on tools. The PCs would last a while and then we'd have to replace the switches that would wear out, put new cables on them after the wire would break at some point in the cord, and constantly replace the brushes. With the Bosch Colts, we haven't had to do a thing yet in the past three years. Not a thing. They're being used up to 10 hours a day, 5 days a week.

This router has all the features that you want in a handheld router. It's powerful enough to take a 1/4" bite with a 1-1/4" core box bit in maple, ash and other softwoods, 1/8"-3/16" hardwoods. The optional plunge base is very useful (two-handed stability and control) and can work in smaller restricted areas than my large 1-1/2 hp to 3-1/2 hp routers. My oldest Bosch 1 hp Colt is 12 years old and I have not had any issues with any of them. I have three so that I don't have to change bits between operations.

My main point is that this is an excellent piece of equipment. It's super easy to use, and delivers power you might not expect from such a small tool. Plus, the number of accessories available is what made this model beat out the DeWalt when I was deciding between the two. I tried both and could not find any other differences. So, unless you're trying to color coordinate your shop, are blindly brand loyal, or you really just want to spend extra money, I'd recommend this one.

Exactly what I need - I’m just an occasional user but it feels like professional quality - very stout. Good adjustability on speed. Depth of cut guide could be better but it is adequate. Easy to hold and routs accurately. I give it a thumbs up. Not for table routing - this is strictly a handheld unit.

Excellent trim router. I was torn between this model and the Dewalt DWP611. I have used both prior to purchasing. They are comparable models but I like the grip on the Bosch model. I have used the router for a few months now and can give an accurate description of what you should expect. Like any trim router its a small motor that will heat up if you are aggressive, trying to remove too much material at a time. You can't expect to remove the same material in one pass with this router as the larger 2.25 hp unit. You can get the same results but it takes multiple passes. I have been using Whiteside router bits with this model and am pleased with my purchase. I own other Bosch tools and when cared for and properly maintained they will last.

I've been using a "full size" router for years, but I recently took the plunge on this little guy. I only wish I had bought it sooner. For 90% of my projects, this is all I need. The size is so much easier to manage, especially when doing round-overs on edges. The depth adjustment is quick and easy, and I find it much easier to change the bits on this unit, than a full size router.

Love it, but then again it's a Bosch! You would think you're using a regular size router only this is so much easier to see where your cuts are being made and not so heavy, which for me is crucial given I am very fine boned (woman) and not much tensile strength. Highly recommend it.

Great tool with excellent features. Comes with a case that has additional space for optional accessories. I have the bigger version of this tool, but am not using it as much as I would like due to the size and hassle of getting it out and setting it up. I find the palm router much faster and easier to use; reaching for it when I don't want to deal with the bigger router or setting up the router table.
